Radio Alborz was founded on October 14, 1997, during the visit of Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Khamenei from Karaj.

Radio Alborz started its activities with a 200w transmitter on 107.6 FM frequency, and a 1kw transmitter on 106.2 FM. The first broadcasted show in this radio was a one-hour morning show which was broadcasted for Karaj people. Now by increasing transmitter's power, this radio broadcasts 24-hour a day for cities in west of Tehran province, including Karaj, Shahryar, Robatkarim, Savojbolagh, Eshtehard etc.

Now Radio Alborz is one of the most important and powerful regional media and has been successful in fulfilling its cultural purposes and according the latest surveys 64 percents of regional population are its audience.

One of the most crucial aims of this radio is to prepare a suitable field in which people can be in touch with governmental managers to solve their problems. In recent years Radio Alborz succeeded in making authorities, people and media triangle.

In Radio Alborz four groups of program-makers take part in broadcasting activities. These groups are Morning, Midday, Evening and Night group.

Radio Alborz program-makers has been successful in various national and international radio festivals such as Radio Festival of Iran, ABU and EBU.
